Studio Cinema
Interactive multimedia exhibition
Studio Cinéma is a unique interactive multimedia exhibition presented at the Musée de la civilisation du Quebec...
We'll never stop being fascinated and intrigued by movies. What we see on the big screen is the culmination of an undreamt number of details occurring behind the camera. Movie Studio, the second part of our double feature program on moviemaking, is a must-see if you want to know more about what goes on. This is a wonderful chance to catch a glimpse of the marvellous world of the artists and craftsmen of cinema, from the director and scriptwriter to the actor, film editor, composer, costume designer, set designer and extras.
The Museum has put diverse means at your disposal to allow you to explore the various tasks involved in moviemaking. An interactive installation by the designer Philippe Jean that is integrated into the Movie Studio walls illustrates the main steps in a film's production, zooming in on the different occupations. An interview with Ken Scott, with clips from the film about Maurice Richard, The Rocket, explains some of the principles of screenwriting. All the subtleties of film editing are revealed by the moviemaker Jeremy Peter Allen and his film, Manners of Dying (L'Exécution). The secrets of costume and set design are unveiled by the film C.R.A.Z.Y. and commentary from its costume designer, Ginette Magny.
